Renal denervation

Renal denervation

For patients with high blood pressure (hypertension), whose blood pressure is not well controlled despite optimal medical treatment, a new catheter technique has recently emerged.

At the present time, this technique is fairly promising for reducing blood pressure. Radiofrequency pulses are applied via an arterial catheter to inhibit the nerves running towards and away from the renal arteries (which supply the kidneys). The blood pressure is decreased in the medium-term. Study results so far are very encouraging.

If you are interested in this technique, we can discuss it during a consultation at my cardiology practice in Lausanne.
